Part 1 – traditional library resources
How to use the catalog to find background information such as online dictionaries, encyclopedias and other general reference tools:
From the AUC Library’s Website http://library.aucegypt.edu/ go to
Research Guides http://library.aucegypt.edu/guides/index.htm and then to
General Guides http://library.aucegypt.edu/guides/handouts.htm
Once at the General Guides page, I would look at the html format of Reference Tools, http://library.aucegypt.edu/guides/ref_tools.htm . There are links to the AUC catalog for print resources. Scrolling down the page, importantly are three online resources, notably the Oxford Reference Online and a link to the Reference section of the library’s Electronic Resources page.

How to find Mona Baker’s book and David Crystal’s book:
From the AUC Library’s Website http://library.aucegypt.edu/ go to
AUC Library Catalog http://library.aucegypt.edu/catalog/index.htm and
search by author, last/family name firstname
Note her book is “on search” check the LCSH of Translating and Interpreting. Crystal has numerous titles and all LCSH are worth noting …
Part 2 – On the Internet
A search in Google or Scholar.Google with the terms of resources for translators produces references to the scholarship of translating or information about the profession of translating rather than tools like polyglots.
For Example:

For translating tools, check any search engine’s “advanced features/helplinks”
